BORN IN THE WHISKEY CITY
When George Ross opened Ross & Squibb Distillery in 1847, the small town of Lawrenceburg was on its way to becoming the rye whiskey capital of the world. Kentucky may be known for its bourbon, but Lawrenceburg has always done rye better. For over 200 years, the city has cultivated some of the finest master distillers in America.

BETTER WATER, BETTER WHISKEY
Aside from its prime trade location along the Ohio River, the Ross & Squibb Distillery also benefitted from sitting directly on top of an aquifer. Water used to craft the whiskey was naturally limestone filtered, lowering sulfur and iron content that negatively affect a whiskey's taste. The result was a bold, spicy flavor no other region could replicate.

A ONE-HORSE OPERATION
The first mash bills from Lawrenceburg were produced from a grist mill powered by a single blind horse. This crude method of grinding grain meant the distillery was limited to two barrels of whiskey per week.

THE GOLDEN AGE OF RYE
By 1902, Ross & Squibb Distillery was large enough to store 60,000 barrels of whiskey at a time. Americans loved their rye whiskey, and Rossville was one of the country's largest producers. Rye anchored many popular cocktails in the 19th century, including the Old Fashioned. Just before Prohibition, 96 percent of the liquor consumed in America was rye whiskey.

THE END OF AN ERA
During Prohibition, the Ross & Squibb Distillery was one of the few distilleries able to diversify its production as America's interest in whiskey waned. If not for this industrial pivot, it's unlikely Ross & Squibb Distillery would still be around today, and the rebirth of American rye would not have been possible.

Master Crafted Manhattan
What happens when you infuse the soul of 1847 with a timeless Manhattan? You get a masterfully complex and unapologetically spirited cocktail experience. This is the Manhattan of the Masters.

2 oz. Rossville Union Master Crafted Rye (94 proof)
½ oz. Carpano Antica vermouth
2 long dashes Angostura bitters
1 Luxardo cherry, for garnish

Combine ingredients in a cocktail mixing glass. Add ice and stir until well chilled. Strain into chilled martini or coupe glass. Garnish with Luxardo cherry.

The sweet, woody, and warm flavors of the Rossville Maple Rose masterfully capture the sensations of summer transitioning to fall. Sip this during golden hour as the cool breeze wisps through the trees and find yourself in a moment truly worth savoring.

2 oz. Rossville Union
1/4 oz. lemon juice
1/4 oz. maple syrup
2 rosemary sprigs
1 egg white
1 sugar cube/ ¼ oz simple syrup
2 dashes Angostura Bitters/ Chocolate mole bitters

Muddle the sugar cube with 2 dashes of angostura bitters in a mixing glass. Combine Rossville Union, lemon juice, and maple syrup into the mixing glass. Crack an egg, adding only the egg white into the mixing glass with rosemary sprig. Dry shake, then double strain into a highball glass with fresh ice. Garnish with a rosemary sprig and lemon twist.

Raspberry Smash
The whiskey smash gets its roots from the classic mint julep. The addition of sweet-and-tart raspberry syrup makes for a complex, fruit-forward flavor. Our Master Crafted Rye anchors this summer cocktail that’s perfect for both new and seasoned whiskey drinkers.

2 oz. Rossville Union Rye
1 oz. raspberry syrup*
0.75 oz. lime juice
Handful mint leaves

To make the raspberry syrup, heat and stir sugar and water until you have a syrup. Add 4 oz. raspberries and let simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat, strain raspberries, and let cool before serving. Keep refrigerated for up to 4 weeks. To make the raspberry smash cocktail, combine all ingredients in a mixing tin with ice and shake. Strain over fresh ice into an old fashioned glass and garnish with a mint sprig and fresh raspberries.

2 oz Rossville Union
2 oz Sweet & Sour
1 oz Club Soda
1/2 oz Grenadine
Garnish: Orange and Cherry

Mix Rossville Union and S&S into a mixing glass. Shake and strain into a Collins glass. Top with club soda and add grenadine. Garnish with an orange and cherry.

Rossville Union Master Crafted Rye infuses the soul of 1847 into Master Mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim’s Just for Mary. Think of it as a contemporary spin on a classic Manhattan.

2 oz Rossville Union Master Crafted Straight Rye Whiskey
1/2 Cherry Heering
1/2 oz Lillet Blond
2 dashes Regan’s Orange Bitters No. 6

In an ice-filled mixing glass add Rossville Union Master Crafted Straight Rye Whiskey, Cherry Heering, Lillet, and orange bitters. Stir until very cold. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Finish with essence of a burnt orange twist and discard. Garnish with a brandied cherry.
