RYE WHISKEY TASTING GUIDE
THE GLASS
Using a tulip-shaped glass, such as the Glencairn, allows the aromas to mingle as they travel toward the rim.
THE NOSE
Without swirling, roll the whiskey to release the aromas. Then, carefully sniff by the rim of the glass.
THE TASTE
Take a small sip of the whiskey. Let it roll over your tongue and swallow when you have a good feel for the flavor.
THE FINISH
Take note of the warm feeling after swallowing. Pay attention to the length and intensity as well as any flavors that surprise you.

NEAT
The warmer the whiskey is, the more you can notice the flavors and scents. While there is no wrong way to drink rye whiskey, some purists believe ice takes away from the true whiskey experience.

ON THE ROCKS
Adding ice softens flavors and scents, making the whiskey easier to sip. If using ice, avoid diluting the whiskey by using a large block of clean and freshly frozen ice. The quality of the ice can affect a whiskey’s taste.

Ingredients
- 2 oz. Rossville Union Master Crafted Rye (94 proof)
- 1/2 oz. Carpano Antica vermouth
- 2 long dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 Luxardo cherry, for garnish
What happens when you infuse the soul of 1847 with a timeless Manhattan? You get a masterfully complex and unapologetically spirited cocktail experience. This is the Manhattan of the Masters.
Cocktail Directions:
Combine ingredients in a cocktail mixing glass. Add ice and stir until well chilled. Strain into chilled martini or coupe glass. Garnish with Luxardo cherry.
